50s/60s Rhinestone Aurora Borealis Beaded Brooch
I love this brooch. It is made with white beads that were coated in aurora borealis! Aurora Borealis was a technique done primarily in the 1950s when they learned they could bring out color by microplating beads and glass in blue metal. They did this often on crystals, glass and plastic beading to take one color and create a spectrum of colors. They wanted to mimic the northern lights which is where it got its name. This is a beautiful example of aurora borealis done on white beads. Depending on where you look at it, the colors will change.
